Queensland is pretty much tropical country and is probably best known for the Great Barrier Reef
running more than 2000 kilometres along its coastal waters, and for the Gold and Sunshine Coasts south and north of the state capital, Brisbane.
The Gold Coast, that visitors are more familiar with, stretches along the coastal suburbs from Paradise Point to Tweed Heads (about 35km).

There is a shop with a wide variety of science merchandise and souvenirs. The Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium is located in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha. The Planetarium features entertaining and informative programs for children and adults. Fraser Island
Perched on the sunny Queensland coast 161 miles NE, Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island and home to a wonderful beach. This World Heritage Site is an ecologist’s dream, with 640 square miles of unspoiled natural paradise. Rain forests with 1,000-year-old trees sprout from the sand. Of the island 98% is a protected National Park, with no sealed roads, 4WD is the only mode of transport.
