The Canary Islands are a cluster of Spain’s most popular and renowned Islands, commonly tainted with misconceptions of being a paradise for booze fuelled, beach obsessed British youth.

Loro Parque
One of Tenerife’s biggest attractions. Home to over 200 penguins and 350 species of parrot, the Park has an enormous variety of animals including sharks, alligators, jaguars and silverback gorillas. There’s a lot to see at Loro Park and you’ll easily fill a day. Visit Planet Penguin (the biggest replica of the Antarctic continent ever constructed) or watch the antics of the killer whales in the Orca Ocean. Plants lovers will enjoy the Orchidarium - home to more than 1,000 orchids year round. Kids are also well catered for at Kinderlandia – an African-style village and jungle dedicated solely to their enjoyment. |
Aquatic Thai Paradise
Southern Tenerife is where you will find the self-claimed ‘most spectacular water attraction in Europe’ – Siam Park. The breath-taking 52 million euro water park includes Thai theming on all of its rides, park buildings, and restaurants. The park has 25 buildings which make up the largest collection of Thai-themed buildings outside of Thailand. Christoph Kiessling designed the park with permission from the Thai royal family to use the park’s name and theme. It was even opened by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Thailand Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. |
Lido Martianez
In the old town of Puerto de la Cruz you will find the impressive natural salt water swimming pools designed by the famous architect/landscaper Cesar Manrique. The Museo Canario
The Canarian Museum houses the most complete archeological collection in the Canary Islands. Develop an understanding of how these early humans lived as the exhibition leads you through 11 rooms displaying mummies, skeletons, jewelry, pottery, statues and other items that played an important role in the Guanches lives from the second half of the first millennium BC to the 15th century. Displays include scale models of their dwellings and a replica of the Cueva Pintada The library is so extensive, it is divided into four separate libraries! |
Sioux City
In the sun scorched surrounds of Gran Canaria island lies a recreation of the American Wild West with cowboys and Indians, gunfights and saloons, and even a petting zoo for the kids. Originally built as a stage set for 'A Fistful of Dollars' starring Clint Eastwood, Sioux City has since found fame as a popular theme park. Keep your wits about you as you meander along the dusty streets, past the sherrif's office, bank, and general store, for you could get caught in a shoot out. Bank robberies, saloon fights, cattle stampedes, rodeos, and gunfights are all part of everyday life at Sioux City! |
