Better known by the name of its main island, Tahiti, French Polynesia is a mesmerising wonderland of reef-fringed islands and translucent aqua lagoons.
Shamelessly chic and seductive, it's the kind of place where the rich and famous come to play and hedonistic honeymoon fantasies are realised.
The epitome of the Pacific dream, this is one Garden of Eden so damn beautiful it's hard to believe it really exists. Bora Bora is more than just some souped up, sexy honeymoon destination, however. Those seeking something stronger than a pina colada in the sand will find salvation never more than a boat ride away.
Adventures are plentiful in these archipelagos, Tahiti and her islands are some of the most beautiful in all the south Pacific.
Tahitians are very respectful and generous and kind. To hear random people say 'hello' on the street to strangers or even passersby is not uncommon.
Bora Bora will seduce you into buying the Cadillac of paradises, the one loaded with all the luxury trappings you know you don't need but just can't live without.
Legendary not only for its lush beauty but also its hedonistic decadence, this island is a fairy-tale creation of jagged volcanic peaks juxtaposed against crystal-clear aqua lagoons.
One of the world's most famous dream destinations, Bora Bora lures honeymooners, heiresses and movie stars by the plane load
with a potent potion of ostentatiously hip, oh-so-romantic, slightly naughty exotica.
A wicked seductress, this island tempts with a Pandora's box of guilty pleasures: but you'll have to decide if they're worth the hefty price attached.

Le Truck
Take a narrated drive on the "Le Truck" along the 22 mile road that circles this legendary island. Drive pass Farepiti, Faanui, and Anau with their mysterious maraes and wonder at the American naval guns that serve as reminders of the South Pacific's part in World War II. As you continue, you'll discover Paopao Point and Matira Point with their spectacular views. The road continues and takes you past groves of coconut palms and tiny villages hugging the shoreline. During ancient times, maraes were open-air temples. Constructed of several tiers of stone and coral, they recall a time when Polynesian gods and idols were worshiped. Religion is still an important part of the Bora Bora island life. But today, half of the population of French Polynesia is Protestant |

Matira Beach
A mile of exquisite white sand at the southern tip of Bora Bora Island. When you visit, you will understand why it is Bora Bora's most popular public beach. Often described as the most beautiful beach on the main island. Matira Beach is actually the only public beach. The white sand slopes gently into a sandy bottomed lagoon so the water is warm and shallow. The floor is flat and has a sandy, coral-free bottom to walk on. During low tide, you can wade from Matira Point, across the shallows, out to the barrier reef. This shallow water is what makes it impossible to sail around the island in a yacht. You can snorkel straight off the beach. This western-facing beach is renown for beautiful sunsets |

Shark & Ray Snorkel
Covered boats will transfer you across the lagoon, past Toopua point, to the barrier reef where ideal conditions have encouraged maximum coral growth. Donning a mask and snorkel, you'll enter waters with varying depths of 4 to 30 feet. The waters will instantly amaze you with the clarity and vivid blue colors. The diversity of the fish species and colors of the coral are quite fantastic! After a little while of snorkeling amid these gorgeous coral formations, the guide will begin attracting some black tipped lagoon sharks to the group! At three to five feet in length, these sharks are quite harmless. The fact is that the sharks of Polynesia all share a scuba-friendly trait: Since their food supplies are abundant, they've never been known to be aggressive to any divers! |
